Hi All....I spent DAYS making sure I had everything I needed backed-up to my USB flash drives before I reformatted. I used a Windows XP program my brother gave me to finally take the dive and reformt, which had options to remove partitions, save in FAT or NTFS, and a couple other doo-dads, and instead of installing my own from the mfr., I used his. (dum dum dum!!)

I am attempting to retreive my backups from the flash drive, which contains 15.6 gb of data to no avail. Windows says it is "corrupt" (I tried to change the format back to NTFS from the newly assigned FAT32 format using the DOS prompt and "convert A: \fs:ntfs", which is a fairly simple task, but now the USB is not legible,) however in scanning with a number of programs, the data appears to still be there. Just not legible to Windows.

Also interesting, is that the accessory drives are now assigned different letters, and the other memory sticks show as in FAT when I go into Properties. I know FAT isn't a bad thing, but it is not how I want it, nor how I had it set up before. The C: drive no longer is partitioned to include Drive D: Recovery (in FAT).

I also have no audio, and the power option "Stand-by" is no longer an option. I am just sick about all of this. I took so many precautions so that this nightmare would not happen....... doh.gif OOPS!

Ok....I downloaded Power Data Recovery and it found the 15.6 gb, but saved it to RRS on my desktop (internal encryption meaning "resume recovery") and they want $80.00 to convert it. I tried something called Recuva (makers of CCleaner by Piriform) and that program was stumped and could not proceed.

Anyone have any suggestions? Any and all are welcome. I did do another reformat with my own disk, but it saved all the settings from my brother's program.
