Hi,

I am using Vista, Word 7, and my company uses DictAide as their software for transcription. The only word expander I'm using is AutoCorrect and AutoText. I know they have limited capacities, so am hesitant to input as many shortcuts as I'd like.

Instant Text does not work with DictAide. So, I'm thinking of buying Shorthand, which they say will work. I guess that works well with Word 7. Abcz is so well known and praised but is it a glossary that you import into Shorthand? or is it a how-to and you input the terms you need manually?

Thanks. I know these are the basics but that's where I am.

The ABCZMEDSET is a set of "dictionaries", as Shorthand calls them, designed for Shorthand/Speedtype. These are not executable files (i.e. programs) but are files that open just as any other Shorthand "dictionary" does. They work within Shorthand. (The set differs from the ABCZ glossaries for Instant Text because of the different features of each program.)

ABCZ is also a set of rules that you can implement yourself if you want to build your own short-long forms. The ABCZMEDSET for Shorthand/Speedtype (66,000 entries) and TAMED for Instant Text (90,000 entries) are based on these rules, but go well beyond them.

Please see my web site for a description of the ABCZ rules as well as descriptions of the ABCZ "dictionaries" for Shorthand (and glossaries for Instant Text).
