I will say I saw that, regarding Autokey, Jaunty breaks it. Here's a quote about that from one of the folks who works on Autokey:

I'm afraid you've hit on a major snag there. The new version of X server
used in Jaunty has had a lot of internal changes, and one side effect of these
changes is that the X event system is totally broken. Autokey will be totally
unusable on Jaunty until this glaring bug is fixed. I raised a bug on this about
3 months ago but obviously that wasn't anything like enough time to fix a problem
of this magnitude.
Interesting! I know from configuring Arch that later versions of Xorg (1.5 and 1.6) like to use hal for hotplugging and detection of keyboards and mice. Part of that includes the evdev driver which checks for events from devices, I think. If Ubuntu went to that system and Autokey can't support it you might be out of luck...
Here's a brief overview of what evdev does:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EvdevBut here's where it gets interesting. In Arch it's really easy to disable hotplugging, not use evdev, and still have an up-to-date system. You just follow the directions listed here at option 2:
http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Beginn...put_hotpluggingStill, I'm sure the Autokey developers will get it going with the new event method soon. In the meantime, you should all switch to Arch.
Or maybe it's something specific to Ubuntu. I'll try installing Autokey on my Arch desktop, where I'm using evdev, later.
