I have been working for about 5 months now. I just recently purchased SH to use instead of the build in expander (ESP) in the platform we use. I am trying to get everything transferred over and fine tuned. I just love this board. I have received TONS of ideas. Thanks everyone too for their lists. Very easy to get everything saved to a notedpad document and made into a new dictionary for SH!!

I remember reading that 14Tonks does not use J for word that end in -ion. For the life of me, now I can't find that message or find any mention of what to use instead.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks

Lisa, it's hard to give a suggestion in isolation. You are correct that I don't use j for words that end in -ion, although I don't know if I may have posted that fact in a discussion here or elsewhere. I varied from a lot of other people in that because I use that very easy to type letter J for a lot of other things. However, before deciding whether you want to use J for -ion (and what else you would like to use if you don't), you need to consider the entire system you will use for common English endings for conjugations and inflections. I have a system that suits my mind; it would not necessarily suit anyone else's mind. For one thing, I ignore whether a verb is regular or irregular when making my shorts. That works for me. The fact the short then does not necessarily resemble the actual irregular preterite in spelling might give your mind conniption fits.

Ok, So it is just a matter that you use j for too many other things to make it useful as an ending for -ion words, correct?

I had been using it for the -ion ending, but it wasn't anything that I couldn't retrain my brain for since it wasn't set in for a long time. I do like how it just flows off my fingers though, so maybe I will just keep it, also since I really don't know what other letter I would use.

I have been reading here for HOURS and HOURS about systems to use and different tips. I LOVE it!!! I am trying to add things as I find them, but I realize I just don't have as many hours in a day as I would like.

Thanks for your help, I really appreciate it.
