Harrie
Even though if I had to do it all over again, I'd likely stick with one system in general, for a long time it just came naturally to me to do the the first letter of the first word; then the first three of the second word, with sometimes a fourth letter if needed. I still do a lot of these to this day. They work particularly well for "left" and "right" entries. As in:

larm = left arm
rarm = right arm
lfem = left femur
rfem = right femur
lfeml = left femoral
rfeml = right femoral
rkid = right kidney
lkid = left kidney
rfoo = right foot
lfoo = left foot
leye = left eye
reye = right eye
rsho = right shoulder
lsho = left shoulder
rtib = right tibia
ltib = left tibia
ltibl = left tibial
rtibl = right tibial
rhum = right humerus
lhum = left humerus
rhuml = right humeral
lhuml = left humeral

I sure do like this, though as before, I'd likely stick with one general system if I were starting over. I almost hesitated to post it for that reason. How many of you use this system, by the way, for all sorts of two-word phrases?

For "both," though, I sure love the first two letters of the first two words deal! So effective!

boey = both eyes
boar = both arms
bole = both legs
bokn = both knees
boea = both ears
bofe = both feet

Etc.!

Here's my system for right, left, both... Although I almost always used the first two letters of both words like you did, Harrie, I shortened these ones down to the first letter of the first word and the first two letters (plus) of the second word. Enjoy!

I've got to put those in for the right and left cheeks! lol.gif

I still do use tons of first letter of first word, first two or three letters of second word entries. They are so effective sometimes, so quick! I've been hesitant, feeling that what I post should stick to one system overall for consistency's sake, but maybe I should get over it. We should start a thread with just that type of entry, and do tons of them! I can't right now because I'm too tired from work and I have a disconjugate gaze! I'm really only saying that because I couldn't believe I didn't have that when I heard it, so I put it in! digaz! oneeyed.gif oneeyed.gif
