Okay, this is pretty darned basic but it just might be of help to someone. I found that the best way to learn how to do functions I want Smartype to do is by having the instructions all printed out. That way I don't have to keep going back and forth and can just read the instructions as I go along doing whatever it is I want it to do.

First, open a Word document, click on Smartype and you will get a whole list of options. Click on "Help contents" and a whole list of stuff will come up. Scroll down till you get to "tutorial" and click on that.

In order to print you will have to highlight the whole thing, otherwise it will only print the boxes and not the written instructions (at least that was the case with me). The first batch is rather long, about 20 pages but the rest is at the most 5 pages. Once you have printed the first batch, at the bottem it will say "next tutorial topic" click on that to open it, highlight all, then print. Just continue doing this till you have it all printed.

Then the fun starts. You can go through and do all sorts of things with step-by-step instructions. It also helps a bunch if you have, would have inserted the cocktail icon here but couldn't get it to come up.

There may be someone with a better way to do this, if so, speak up for goodness sakes. Though, I'd be rather upset after going through and printing it all jawdrop.gif but I'm sure I'd get over it. hehe.gif
