If you have tons of docs who, after your family history heading, perhaps, either say noncontributory, or unremarkable, or unknown, try setting that up in your expander for those several ways.
Like:
FAMILY HISTORY: Noncontributory.
If yours goes like that, to the side, in other words, you can put in fhnc and then have that expand, and have your paragraph marks in there too so that it goes to the next paragraph already. You can have fhunr, fhunk, as many as you find to be common. If you are required to put the noncontributory underneath, set it up that way instead.
Neat for review of systems at times, as well.
It's great for the allergy section, too. I have all the combinations they usually say in there, and have each named al1, al2, al3, al4. I have the bold already in and have it set to be back un-bold at the next paragraph.
Just little things!
Edit, 9/5/04: Guess I'll move this old post to the systems forum.

Good idea Harrie! Something I wouldn't have thought of even though I type it all the time! :thumbsup

Glad you like it, 2busy! Took me about 18 years of transcribing to think of it, LOL.

Nope, not me. I started out on a computer with PRD+ in WP5.1 (I was lucky, lucky, lucky). My mom and the lady I first started working for (a family friend) both started out on typewriters and when our friend started her own business, she was on a typewriter for about a year and decided to fork out the money for the new technology...LOL! By the time I joined her in 1990/91, she had been using the computer for a few years I think and she had PRD+ on the computer. That was a great program (but am really thankful for IT because it has so many more uses....LOL).

The PRD and WP 5.1 combination was/still is much beloved by many, I've seen this! :happy
You were lucky, I guess, but on the other hand, typewriters were okay in their time, only because we didn't know what we were missing! :lol :lol

It is funny isn't it. I remember taking typing in highschool and the choice was between pica and elite typewriters lol.

I remember pica and elite! I've always wished I could go back and tell my high school typing teacher what I do for a living now. I do believe the only reason she gave me a passing grade of D- was out of fear that she'd have me again the next year... :eek That poor woman, my best friend and I lived to torture her. Oh, the memories. She was very old at the time so I doubt she's even alive any more, but she would surely faint to know I spend practically my whole life on a keyboard!!!

It occurs to me that one could do the same for chief complaint. There's a big variety of chief complaints, but some are extremely common. I'm going to set that up today!
